About the film
Choose Europe. Choose a white dress. Choose being a good girl. Vera chose something else. A Trainspotting homage — Lisbon, the night of Santo António, June 1998. Thirty years ago, Danny Boyle's Trainspotting changed what I thought a film could be. FADO moves it from Edinburgh to Lisbon, puts a woman in Renton's shoes, and asks the same question: what do you choose when everyone is choosing for you? Mr. Boyle, Mr. McGregor, Mr. Welsh — thank you for 1996. Thirty years later, this is my thank-you.
