About the film

Everyone sees a world of their own. Kai sees what is actually there. Then he finds a camera. SUBSTRATE is a short film about perception. In a world where every mind renders its own reality, a boy who was never given one is left with the bare, unrendered real, and with a way to show it to the people who love him. It starts from a simple idea: the real has no meaning of its own. Meaning comes from a gaze, one person's way of seeing, and cinema is the experience of sharing that gaze with others. Made entirely within the Higgsfield Cinema Studio for the Higgsfield Global Film Festival. Every image and every sound was generated, then written, directed and edited like any other film. A film by Jessé Miceli Horoma Films
